Dr Suresh H Advani is a famous oncologist who pioneered Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in India. Struck by poliomyelitis at the age of 8 years, the wheelchair-using doctor studied at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, worked at Tata Memorial Hospital for many years and then completed his Masters in oncology. He gained experience in the field of bone marrow transplantation from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington.

Dr. M.R. Rajagopal is also the director of Trivandrum Institute of Palliative Sciences the flagship of Pallium India. He is one of the founders of Pain and Palliative Care Society in Calicut, which became a WHO demonstration project and grew to the present Institute of Palliative Medicine with a network of over 100 palliative care centers in the state of Kerala, as well as several outside the state. This initiative resulted in palliative care reaching about 40% of the needy in Kerala compared to the national average of less than 1%. He is based at Pallium India headquarters in Trivandrum.

Dr. Cruz is a member of numerous professional bodies including the Indian Society of Surgical Oncology, Association of Surgeons of India, Indian Society for Cancer Research, Foundation of Head and Neck Oncology and the Action council for Tobacco Control. He is a Founding fellow of the International Association of Oral Oncology and the Indian Head and Neck Co-operative group. Professor and Head and Neck cancer Surgeon at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. Dr Chaturvedi did his medical schooling and post graduation in General Surgery at Banaras Hindu University. He was adjudged the best Intern and the best post graduate during his tenure in Banaras Hindu University. Later, he decided to work in field of surgical oncology and received his formal training at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He has been invited as visiting faculty in 22 institutions in 18 countries. He is member of several prestigious national and international organizations and he is reviewer of several leading journals and he is the editor of the Textbook of Head and Neck Surgery. He is the Assistant Editor of the International Journal of Head and Neck surgery. He has authored 6 book chapters and more than 100 papers in international peer reviewed journals.
He is Principal investigator of several clinical trials and his main area of interest is early detection of oral cancer. He is the recipient of the Robert Maxwell Byers award of the American Head and Neck society in year 2010. He was nominated as Council Member of the prestigious International Academy of Oral Oncology. He is one of the founding members of South Asian Federation of Oncology and in the steering committee of the Eurasian Head and Neck Oncology Society. He is the founder and treasurer of the Head Neck Cooperative Oncology Group.
Dr Chaturvedi has tremendous interest in Public Health issue especially related to Tobacco control. He was the coordinator of the Smoke free Mumbai – www.smokefreemumbai.org campaign. He started the famous Voice of Tobacco Victims Campaign (www.vovindia.org ) which has allowed the cancer victims to voice their opinion on the issue of tobacco control. This campaign was instrumental in ban on Gutka all over India and also increase in Tobacco Taxes. He received WHO Director General’s award in 2010 for this campaign. He represented India as Global Cancer Ambassador to New York to lobby with UN representatives for the special UN summit on Non Communicable diseases. He was awarded Outstanding Young Indian award for his public health initiatives. He was selected as a speaker on behalf of the Civil Society in UN Summit on Non Communicable diseases, 2011 in New York. He is also the recipient of the Judy Wilkenfield Award for excellence in Tobacco Control by Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, Washington, USA. Recently he was conferred British Medical Journal award popularly known as Oscar of Medicine. On world CSR day he was conferred coveted Social Innovation & Iconic Leadership Award (2016) .

Professor of Otolaryngology & Head Neck Surgery, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.Dr. Alok Thakar graduated from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and subsequently trained in Otolaryngology & Head-Neck Surgery in India and the UK. In 1997 he was appointed a Consultant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi- the premier medical school and teaching hospital in the country.
Dr. Thakar has a special interest in Head-Neck Oncology and the entire spectrum of Skull Base Surgery-anterior, lateral and endoscopic. The focus of his work has been on optimizing outcomes and minimizing the disability following treatment of Head-Neck and Skull Base Lesions. He has been instrumental in the development of Trans-Oral Laser Surgery and Trans Oral Robotic Surgery in his institution, as also voice conserving oncosurgery, minimally invasive skull base surgery, and techniques for rehabilitation of facial nerve and lower cranial nerve lesions.
Professor Thakar has served on the executive committees of the Foundation for Head-Neck Oncology, the Skull Base Surgery Society of India, Association of Phonosurgeons of India, and is the Past-President of the Neuro Otologic Society of India. He serves on the editorial board of select national and International Journals. He also serves in a number of prominent advisory positions, including Member, Task Force on Cancer Management- Indian Council for Medical Research.
Dr. Thakar’s research has centered primarily on Oncology and Neuro-otology. He has been Chief Investigator in 7 funded clnical research projects and been associated with several other projects. He has authored over 200 papers including a chapter in Scott-Brown’s Textbook of Otolaryngology and one publication included in the Year Book of Otolaryngology & Head-Neck Surgery. His efforts have been recognized by the award of the Shakuntala Amir Chand Award by the Indian Council of Medical Research, and a Gold Medal Award by the Neuro-Otological and Equilibriometric Society of India. He was recently appointed as Honorary Consultant to the Armed Forces Medical Services.
